My research focuses on developing a systematic understanding of how
individuals come to define themselves and their social groups through
media. Grounded in theories of psychology, communication, and critical
studies of mediated social norms, I investigate how the everyday
experience of media consumption affects viewer psychology, including
self-concepts, identity, attitudes, and behavior. This question has
guided my academic pursuits, and resulted in multiple lines of research
that tackle this relationship from different perspectives. Click here to view a list of publications.
